Take a look behind the walls of a monastery that was founded in 1093! The monastery market garden invites you to linger and the wide variety of plants is always worth a glimpse. The adjacent lake “Laacher See” is perfect for a stroll or hiking.

It was constructed in 1972, has a diameter of 100 meters and is one of the world’s biggest fully articulated radio telescopes. It is used for the observation of pulsars, cold gas- and dust clouds, star forming regions, matter that has its origin in black holes and, among numerous other things, to observe the cores of distant galaxies.

The maars (round volcanic craters that are filled with water) lie in the heart of the Eifel around the city of Daun and they are especially interesting for hikers and visitors interested in volcanism. Some of them even invite you to take a swim in the summertime!

The Red Wine Trail leads you through the vineyard terraces (mostly on the half level of the hill) of Bad Bodendorf past Bad Neuenahr- Ahrweiler to Altenahr and is about 35 km. You will enjoy a marvelous view on the wild and romantic Ahrtal valley and may watch the wine- growers at work.
To round of the day, you can participate in a wine tasting on one of the vineyards or indulge yourself in one of the wine cellars, the so called “Straußenwirtschaften”.

The still growing waterfall of Dreimühlen is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the entire Eifel. Because of its uniqueness, the waterfall of Dreimühlen has been declared as a natural monument. The waterfall grows about 10 cm every year.
